Our Activities and Projects

The Okeechobee FOP is involved with a variety of activities within the Okeechobee Community. These are just a few examples:

Shop with a Cop Christmas event

One of the Lodge’s biggest charitable programs is our “Shop with a Cop” Christmas event. With the help of the School Resource Officers and local teachers, the FOP selects children in the Okeechobee community that are “in need”. With the parental permission and the help of the Okeechobee Wal-Mart Super Center, the FOP members, in uniform (but not on-duty), take the selected children Christmas shopping. Each child will receive up to $100.00 to buy anything they would like.

Our annua Celebration of our nation's Independence and freedom at Okee-Tantie park on State Road 78 and the Kissimmee River. This event consists of a public safety educational expo, family oriented games and activities, Kids "fun zone" (sponsored by Dairy Queen) and a fireworks show that will rival any in the local area. The best part is the event is totally free!!

Scholarship / Grant Programs

Okeechobee FOP offers scholarships to graduating seniors who are interested in a career in law enforcement and/or children of our law enforcement members. Requirements are a 2.8 g.p.a., good moral character, proven community service and no criminal activities.

We also offer grants to various organizations within the community that promote positive interactions between the youth of Okeechobee and law enforcement.

Community Projects

The Okeechobee FOP has been involved in several community projects. One of which was the Flagler Park gazebo/ band stand rebuild. Several members of the lodge participated in the rebuild which was spearheaded by the Kiwanis Club of Okeechobee.

Many of our members also participate in school activities such as reading to students and demonstrations of their various law enforcement skills.

Officer Assistance Fund

The Officers Assistance fund was set up to assist in-need officers during times of catastrophic events such as severe injury, illness or death. The fund is managed by the Okeechobee FOP solely and is dispersed at the direction of the Board. The goal of the program is to serve those who serve the community during their time of need.
